As your basic fighters, swordsmen are usually the ones at the front, using a wider rangs of weapons than the rogues. They also rely more upon brute force, as constantly getting hit in the head usually degrades intelligence.

   Swordsmen, like any other class, have trained themselves in three different Professions:

   Guardsmen are hired soldiers that fight to protect their homelands. Utilizing brute force backed by the "art" of diplomacy, the Guardsmen follow orders. To do more, would be unworthy, and likely cost the Guardsman his position.

   Mercenaries are hired muscle. As long as the price is right, they are willing to go anywhere, do anything, and basically, just get the job done. No questions asked.

   The Knights are honorable, whereas the other swordsmen may not always be. Following the "old code," the knights believe that "Above all else, serve thy fellow man." This, honor demands. This, the Knight shall obey.
